Guimara Tuñón Guerra

Research Manager of Maritime Policy Bureau.

Mrs. Tuñón-Guerra has more than fourteen (14) years of experience in the maritime sector, in both public and private sectors, in maritime transportation, logistics, maritime business administration, as well as in port issues. Ms. Tuñón-Guerra has a Law Degree, two Master’s Degrees, one in Port Management and Logistics, and the other in Port and Maritime Management, as well as a Doctorate Degree in Engineering and Architecture.

Prior to becoming Research Manager, she served as General Director of Ports and Maritime Ancillary Industries and Deputy Director of Maritime Ancillary Industries, in the Panamá Maritime Authority, overseeing issues related to the port operation, granting of Port Concessions and issuance of Operations’ Licenses for Maritime Ancillary Industries purposes. From 2017-2019, she was elected Vice President of IAPH (America, Central and South Region); part Board of directors of the American Association of Port Authorities (México, Central America and Panama); President of the Technical Advisory Group on Logistics, Innovation and Competitiveness of the Inter-American Committee on Ports of the Organization of American States. In 2018, she was elected as Outstanding Woman in the Maritime and Port Service, Maritime Award of the Americas, Inter-American Committee on Ports.

Biografía

Guimara Tuñón Guerra es Gerente de Investigación de Maritime Policy Bureau. Cuenta con catorce (14) años de experiencia en el sector marítimo, público y privado; en transporte marítimo, logística, administración de negocios marítimos y operaciones portuarias. Posee una Licenciatura en Derecho y Ciencias Políticas, tres títulos de maestría, así como estudios en dos programas doctorales. Ante de desempeñarse como Gerente de Investigación, sirvió como Directora General de Puertos e Industrias Marítimas Auxiliares encargada de la gestión y administración del Sistema Portuario Panameño.

De 2017-2019, fue electa como Vice Presidenta de la Asociación Internacional de Puertos, IAPH (Región de América Central y Suramérica); miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Asociación Americana de Autoridades Portuarias (México, América Central y Panamá); Presidenta del Comité Consultivo de Logística, Innovación y Competitividad de la Comisión Interamericana de Puertos de la Organización de Estados Americanos. En 2018, fue electa como Mujer Sobresaliente del Sector Portuario y Marítimo de Las Américas, por la Comisión Interamericana de Puertos de la Organización de Estados Americanos. (CIP/OEA).
