Claudia Grant is an experienced maritime professional who has been involved in the maritime industry in the Caribbean for nearly three decades. A graduate of the University of the West Indies and the World Maritime University, Malmö, Sweden, she has worked at the Regional level with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat where she had responsibility for proposing and overseeing the implementation of policies and projects for the sustainable development of maritime transportation in the Member States of the Region. She later joined the Jamaica Ministry of Transport where she spearheaded the establishment of the maritime administration in her country (Jamaica). Her experience covers the regulatory, policy and operational spheres of the industry having worked in ports, maritime administration and at the policy level regionally and nationally.
Ms. Grant is a trained Lead auditor for ISO as well as the International Maritime Organization’s Member State Audit Scheme. She also possesses extensive project management experience and recently completed a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London. She is also the immediate past president of the Women in Maritime Association Caribbean and current Chair of the Implementation of IMO Instruments (III) Sub-Committee.
