Panel 1: Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction
Ríán Derrig is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute of the World Maritime University. His research focuses on redistribution through the law of the sea, and on the history and theory of international law in the twentieth century. Ríán was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and he defended his doctoral thesis at the European University Institute, Florence, in 2019. He was awarded the 2018 ‘Young Scholar Prize’ of the European Society of International Law, and the 2020 ‘Antonio Cassese Prize’ for his doctoral work on the New Haven School of international law. His book, ‘The New Haven School: American International Law’, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press in February 2025.
Ríán Derrig es becario postdoctoral en el Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute de la Universidad Marítima Mundial. Su investigación se centra en la redistribución a través del derecho del mar y en la historia y teoría del derecho internacional en el siglo XX. Ríán fue anteriormente becario postdoctoral en el Centro de Ciencias Sociales WZB de Berlín y defendió su tesis doctoral en el Instituto Universitario Europeo de Florencia en 2019. Fue galardonado con el ‘Premio Joven Académico’ de 2018 de la Sociedad Europea de Derecho Internacional, y el ‘Premio Antonio Cassese’ 2020 por su trabajo doctoral en la Escuela de Derecho Internacional de New Haven. Su libro, “The New Haven School: American International Law”, se publicará próximamente en Oxford University Press en febrero de 2025.
