OCEAN GOVERNANCE IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC AND LATIN AMERICA

The World Maritime University - Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute (WMU-GOI), the U.S. Naval War College - Stockton Center for International Law, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru are delighted to invite the international community to the first Conference on Oceans Law & Policy (COLP) in Latin America, titled 47th Annual Conference on Oceans Law & Policy: Ocean Governance in the South Pacific and Latin America.
The Conference is scheduled to take place on 17 - 20 September 2024 in Lima, Peru, in a hybrid format. It is hosted in partnership with the Peruvian Navy at the prestigious Peruvian Naval Academy headquarters in La Punta, Callao.
The conference is delivered in partnership with and co-sponsored by The Nippon Foundation, the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), the University of Copenhagen - Centre for Climate Change Law and Governance (CLIMA), the Gujarat Maritime University (GMU), the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), the Peruvian Navy, the Peruvian International Law Society and the University of Hawaii - Jon Van Dyke Institute for International Law & Justice.
This year’s conference aims to raise awareness, discuss, and exchange perspectives about the challenges and opportunities for the South Pacific Region in the current context of the new developments of ocean governance and the law of the sea.
