Dr. Gabriela Argüello is an Associate Senior Lecturer in Environmental Law at the University of Gothenburg and a research fellow financed by The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. Her expertise lies in the law of the sea and ocean governance, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary global environmental challenges related to the oceans that involve multi-scale actors, including states, international organizations, industries, and civil society organizations. Gabriela has conducted extensive research and published on various topics, including waste management, pesticides, ship recycling, ship-source pollution, arctic environments, ocean governance, and energy transitions. Additionally, she serves as a member of the European Marine Board Working Group on Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (2024-2026) and is a Fulbright Arctic Initiative IV Scholar (2024-2026).


La Dra. Gabriela Argüello es profesora asociada de Derecho Ambiental en la Universidad de Gotemburgo e investigadora financiada por la Real Academia Sueca de Letras, Historia y Antigüedades. Su experiencia radica en el derecho del mar y la gobernanza de los océanos, con un enfoque particular en los desafíos ambientales globales interdisciplinarios relacionados con los océanos que involucran actores de múltiples escalas, incluidos estados, organizaciones internacionales, industrias y organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Gabriela ha realizado investigaciones exhaustivas y ha publicado sobre diversos temas, incluida la gestión de residuos, pesticidas, reciclaje de barcos, contaminación procedente de barcos, entornos árticos, gobernanza de los océanos y transiciones energéticas.
