Joanna Mossop is an Associate Professor with the Law Faculty at Victoria University of Wellington. Her law of the sea research covers a range of topics including maritime security, biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction, dispute settlement, fisheries and whaling. Her book, The Continental Shelf Beyond 200 Nautical Miles: Rights and Responsibilities (OUP, 2016) was a joint winner of the JF Northey Memorial Book Award. She was a non-governmental member of the New Zealand delegation to the
BBNJ IGC in August 2018 and March/April 2019 and has collaborated with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a range of issues. Joanna will be based at Edinburgh Law School on a McCormick Fellowship from September 2019 until January 2020.
