Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and International Law Commission
Dire Tladi is professor of international law at the University of Pretoria and an extraordinary professor at the University of Stellenbosch. He is currently a Global Visiting Professor of Law at the University of California Irvine here is on a sabbatical under a Fulbright Research Grant. He has served as the Principal State Law Adviser for International Law for the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation and the South Africa Permanent Mission to the United Nations. He is a member of the International Law Commission and its Special Rapporteur for the topic Peremptory Norms of General International Law (Jus Cogens). He is also an associate member of the Institut de Droit International.
