{"id":2439,"date":"2024-08-16T15:47:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-16T15:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conferences.wmu.se\/colp47\/?p=2439"},"modified":"2024-09-05T22:38:45","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T22:38:45","slug":"suriya-narayanan-sundararajan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/conferences.wmu.se\/colp47\/suriya-narayanan-sundararajan\/","title":{"rendered":"Suriya Narayanan Sundararajan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Project and Research Fellow; World Maritime University &#8211; Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute<\/p>\n<p><em>Becario de proyectos e investigacione en la Universidad Mar\u00edtima Mundial (WMU) &#8211; Instituto Oce\u00e1nico Global Sasakawa (GOI),<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Panel 5: Future Oceans 1 &#8211; Emerging Technologies &amp; Digital Connectivity<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>An alumnus of the IMO International Maritime Law Institute, the Alliance University, and the Yeosu Academy of the Law of the Sea, with LLM, LLB and BA in Political Science under his belt, Suriya Narayanan Sundararajan, a multicultural Indian national, is currently a Project and Research Fellow at the World Maritime University (WMU)-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute (GOI), under the Future Ocean Programme funded by The Nippon Foundation. He has also previously served as a Project and Research Fellow at the WMU-GOI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suriya, through his role at WMU, has worked on various short-term multi-stakeholder research endeavours such as the European Union Horizon2020 Programme \u201cBUGWRIGHT2: Autonomous Robotic Inspection and Maintenance on Ship Hulls\u201d, and METAVASEA, a project that covers people-centric transition in the era of decarbonization steered by HELMEPA. He is also a member of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) Alumni Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his earlier stint at the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), he served as one of its principal researchers in the field of law of the sea and public international law. He has worked with the Top Admirals of the Indian Navy to contribute to India\u2019s National Maritime Policy in association with NITI Aayog and has conducted training for the Indian Foreign Service Officer Trainees and Bhutanese Diplomats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is privileged to have been commended by the Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy in 2019 for his commitment and professional competence of a very high order.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His research focuses on technology, security, and environmental issues in ocean governance, with publications in NMF\u2019s Maritime Perspectives and at the Indian Naval Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Antiguo alumno del Instituto de Derecho Mar\u00edtimo Internacional de la OMI, la Universidad Alliance y la Academia de Derecho del Mar de Yeosu, con LLM, LLB y Licenciatura en Ciencias Pol\u00edticas en su haber, Suriya Narayanan Sundararajan, un ciudadano indio multicultural, es actualmente un becario de proyectos e investigacione en la Universidad Mar\u00edtima Mundial (WMU) &#8211; Instituto Oce\u00e1nico Global Sasakawa (GOI), en el marco del Programa Oc\u00e9ano Futuro financiado por The Nippon Foundation. Anteriormente tambi\u00e9n se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como miembro de proyectos e investigaci\u00f3n en WMU-GOI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suriya, a trav\u00e9s de su puesto en WMU, ha trabajado en varios proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n a corto plazo con m\u00faltiples partes interesadas, como el programa Horizon2020 de la Uni\u00f3n Europea \u201cBUGWRIGHT2: Inspecci\u00f3n y mantenimiento rob\u00f3ticos aut\u00f3nomos en cascos de barcos\u201d y METAVASEA, un proyecto sobre la transici\u00f3n centrada en las personas en la era de la descarbonizaci\u00f3n liderado por HELMEPA.
