She also serves as Co-director of the Copenhagen Center for Disaster Research (COPE) at the University of Copenhagen. Dr. Martinez Romera specializes in international environmental law, climate change governance, and the legal dimensions of sustainable energy transitions. Her work focuses on the development of innovative regulatory frameworks to address complex environmental challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Martinez Romera earned her Ph.D. in Law from the University of Copenhagen in 2015, and she holds an M.Sc. in Political Science and Government, an LLM in Law from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Universidad CJC, Madrid. Her academic career is distinguished by extensive teaching roles, including Coordinator for the Courses Group on International Law and lecturer for masters courses such as Climate Change and the Law, International Environmental Law, and International Energy Law and Sustainability, at various universities, and supervising PhD theses since 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Martinez Romera has successfully secured and led multiple high-impact research projects. In her role as PI, Dr. Martinez Romera has overseen projects funded by a diverse array of prestigious grants, including the Independent Research Fund Denmark for the &#8220;Enhancing Climate Action through International Law (EnAct)&#8221; project and the Carlsberg Foundation&#8217;s &#8220;International Law-Making: Actors in Shipping and Climate Change (InterAct)&#8221; initiative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her leadership extends to the coordination of the EU Jean Monnet three-year grant for the establishment of a course on Transatlantic Climate and Energy Law, showcasing her commitment to fostering academic and policy dialogue in this critical area. Currently, she partakes on &#8220;Specify and Protect the EU Social Contract (EXPRESS2)&#8221; project, funded by the Horizon EU grant, focusing on the intersections of climate change, biodiversity, and social contracts. She is also the PI for the &#8220;Regulatory Innovation to Incentivize Green Hydrogen (RIGHydro)&#8221; project, funded by Innovation Fund Denmark, which explores regulatory frameworks to promote green hydrogen as a key component in the transition to sustainable energy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Dr. Martinez Romera has been instrumental in founding a number of environmental research networks such as TRAMEREN &#8211; Transatlantic Maritime Emissions Research Network with NYU School of Law. She also leads the Climate Breakfast Seminar Series and the Interdisciplinary Seminar Series on Climate, Energy and Sustainability, as well as the Climate Show Podcast, facilitating interdisciplinary engagement and public discourse on climate issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Dra. Beatriz Mart\u00ednez Romera es Profesora Asociada de Derecho Ambiental y Cambio Clim\u00e1tico en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Copenhague y Jefa del Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n sobre Derecho y Gobernanza del Cambio Clim\u00e1tico (CLIMA). Tambi\u00e9n se desempe\u00f1a como codirectora del Centro de Copenhague para la Investigaci\u00f3n de Desastres (COPE) de la Universidad de Copenhague. El Dr. Mart\u00ednez Romera se especializa en derecho ambiental internacional, gobernanza del cambio clim\u00e1tico y las dimensiones legales de las transiciones energ\u00e9ticas sostenibles. Su trabajo se centra en el desarrollo de marcos regulatorios innovadores para abordar desaf\u00edos ambientales complejos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Dra. Mart\u00ednez Romera obtuvo su Ph.D. en Derecho por la Universidad de Copenhague en 2015 y tiene un M.Sc. en Ciencias Pol\u00edticas y Gobierno, un LLM en Derecho de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y un Postgrado en Educaci\u00f3n de la Universidad CJC, Madrid. Su carrera acad\u00e9mica se distingue por amplias funciones docentes, incluyendo Coordinadora del Grupo de Cursos de Derecho Internacional y profesora de cursos de maestr\u00eda como Cambio Clim\u00e1tico y Derecho, Derecho Ambiental Internacional y Derecho Internacional de la Energ\u00eda y Sostenibilidad, en diversas universidades, y supervisi\u00f3n de tesis de doctorado desde 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como Investigadora Principal (PI), la Dra. Mart\u00ednez Romera ha conseguido y dirigido con \u00e9xito m\u00faltiples proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n de alto impacto. En su papel como IP, la Dra. Mart\u00ednez Romera ha supervisado proyectos financiados por una amplia gama de subvenciones prestigiosas, incluido el Fondo de Investigaci\u00f3n Independiente de Dinamarca para el proyecto &#8220;Enhancing Climate Action Through International Law (EnAct)&#8221; y el proyecto &#8220;International Law- Making: Actores en el transporte mar\u00edtimo y el cambio clim\u00e1tico (InterAct)&#8221;.
