He holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom), an MSc in Environment and Development from the University of Reading (United Kingdom) and a PhD in Maritime Affairs from the World Maritime University &#8211; Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute (WMU-GOI) (Sweden). Additionally, he was a 2013-2014 recipient of the United Nations-Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship where he received advanced training in ocean affairs and Law of the Sea. He has served as lead negotiator for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on Environmental Impact Assessment in the process to develop a legally binding instrument being negotiated under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (The BBNJ Agreement). Kahlil is also currently a member of the Legal and Technical Commission of the International Seabed Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Kahlil Hassanali es investigador principal del Instituto de Asuntos Marinos de Trinidad y Tobago con m\u00e1s de diez a\u00f1os de experiencia en el campo de la pol\u00edtica y la gobernanza marinas. Tiene una Licenciatura en Ciencias Ambientales de la Universidad de East Anglia (Reino Unido), una Maestr\u00eda en Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo de la Universidad de Reading (Reino Unido) y un Doctorado en Asuntos Mar\u00edtimos de la Universidad Mar\u00edtima Mundial &#8211; Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute (WMU-GOI) (Suecia). Adem\u00e1s, en 2013-2014 recibi\u00f3 la beca de la Fundaci\u00f3n Nippon de las Naciones Unidas de Jap\u00f3n, donde recibi\u00f3 capacitaci\u00f3n avanzada en asuntos oce\u00e1nicos y derecho del mar.
