{"id":472,"date":"2019-01-22T08:46:30","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T08:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/conferences.wmu.se\/bbnjseminar2019\/?p=472"},"modified":"2019-01-22T09:37:57","modified_gmt":"2019-01-22T09:37:57","slug":"richard-barnes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/conferences.wmu.se\/bbnjseminar2019\/richard-barnes\/","title":{"rendered":"Richard Barnes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Business, Law and Politics at the University of Hull.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Richard Barnes is Director of Hull University Marine and Maritime Institute. He has published widely on law of the sea matters. He authored Property Rights and Natural Resources (2009) (winner of the SLS Prize for Outstanding Legal Scholarship) and his edited books include: The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea: A Living Instrument (with Barrett, 2016); Beyond Responsibility to Protect (with Tzevelekos, 2016); and Law of the Sea: Progress and Prospects (with Freestone and Ong, 2006). Recent publications include: \u201c Environmental Rights in Marine Spaces \u201d in Bogojevic and Rayfuse (eds.) Environmental Rights in Europe and Beyond (2018) and several contributions to Proelss (ed.) The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. A Commentary (2017). He has advised a range of organizations, including the WWF, the European Parliament and Defra.
