Yutaka EMI is a proud 2007 graduate of the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden. Having graduated with a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs with a specialization in Maritime Education and Training, Yutaka EMI is passionate about the growth and mentorship of seafarers.
His extensive career includes more than two decades working at the Japan agency of Maritime Education and Training for Seafarers, where he has trained more than 6,000 cadets, including cadets from other countries, on a variety of training ships – tall ships, motor ships, and steam turbine ships.
In addition, Yutaka has also led an international cooperation program for seafarer issues, particularly maritime education and training institutions, at the Maritime Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism. He has also worked as the Deputy Executive Director for the Secretariat of the International Association of Maritime Universities. Thanks to his various roles, he has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area of seafarer education and training.
Yutaka currently serves as chief engineer and an onboard instructor of the training vessel SEIUN MARU. As the Senior Professor of Engineering, he is in charge of the onboard training system for engineer candidates.
