Yasmin Mohd Hasni
Born in 1975, 10th September, Dr. Yasmin has been servicing the Marine Department Malaysia for 18 years. In between those years she has serviced various divisions at the Department such as the Enforcement Unit and the Marine Environment Unit. She has a Bachelor Degree Hons. in Marine Science from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and a Masters Degree in Environmental Science also from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). While in service, she went to pursue her doctorate degree at the University of Nottingham, UK and graduated with a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management. Her key areas of research are Human Factors and Navigation Systems. At this moment, she is part of Research and Development Unit, Maritime Transport Training Institute (MATRAIN). MATRAIN is a training institute under Marine Department Malaysia. She has a high interest researching into current issues in maritime industry. Her current work is researching on ship and port energy efficiency. She is the National Project Coordinator for GEF-UNDP-IMO Global Maritime Energy Efficiency Partnership (GloMEEP) Project. She is determined to understand GHG emission patterns in Malaysia. Recently, she was involved in setting up measures to reduce CO2 emissions from domestic navigation which is part of Malaysia INDC for Paris Agreement. Apart from that she has managed several baseline studies in national port waters in the effort to reduce the transfer of harmful aquatic organisms in ships' ballast water.
