Seijiro Morimoto is a researcher of Japan Maritime Center, a public interest incorporated foundation, where he has engaged in research projects on various issues related to environmental protection in international shipping, such as GHG and sulphur emission reduction, ship-recycling etc. He has taken part in industry-academia-government research groups on GHG reduction from international shipping and has also attended the MEPC meetings at the IMO since 2008. He is acquainted with the policy developments at the IMO and has experience in policy analysis on measures for GHG reduction from international shipping, including the market-based measures.
