Nevin Alija is currently a doctoral student at the Research Center for the Future of the Law, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, recipient of a scholarship by the Foundation of Science and Technology of Portuguese Ministry of Education. Her research focus is Competition Law, Energy Law and Renewable Energy Sources. She received her Bachelor Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Tirana and on a full ERASMUS Mundus scholarship funded by the European Commission she was awarded a Masters´ Degree in Transnational Trade Law and Finance from the University of Deusto and a M2 in Bank Law and Financial Markets from the University of Strasbourg. Finishing a double degree programme, she obtained an M2 in Economic and Regulatory European Law from the Institute of Political Sciences Strasbourg and an LLM in Business, Competition and Regulatory Law from Free University Berlin. Her professional career started by working for law firms specialized in company and business law and has spanned from interning for international organizations such as the Council of Europe to working for the Government of Albania as Head of the Legal Unit of the Albanian Copyright Office. Apart from her career she is very passionate about volunteering and has been actively involved with nonprofit organizations assisting victims of domestic abuse.
