Deniece Aiken is an Attorney-at-Law who holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in International Relations and Political Science from the University of the West Indies and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of London. She completed her Legal Education Certificate Course at the Norman Manley Law School and was called to the Jamaican Bar in 2012. Miss Aiken also completed a Master’s of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Maritime Affairs with Distinction, specializing in Maritime Law and Policy at the World Maritime University in Sweden, and was the recipient of the Pierre Leonard Award for the overall Best Female Student. She is the Founding President and member of the Secretariat of the World Maritime University (WMU) Women’s Association and served as a Director on the Board of the Caribbean Maritime Institute from 2012 to 2016. Ms. Aiken currently serves at the Director of Legal Affairs for the Caribbean Maritime Institute and is the International Chapter Leader for the Jamaica Chapter of the University of London Alumni Association; and a Director on the Boards of the Jamaica Maritime Institute Trust Fund, the Women in Maritime Association, Caribbean and the American Caribbean Maritime Foundation. Her involvements also include being a Member of the Jamaica Bar Association, the International Maritime Lecturers Association and Trainee Mediator with the Dispute Resolution Foundation. Miss Aiken is also an Adjunct Lecturer and Principal Lecturer of Law at the Caribbean Maritime Institute and Lecturer of Commercial Law at the Herriot Watt University.
