Deputy Director, Maritime Safety and Marine Pollution Prevention, Senegal

After taking care about my two (02) children, I decided to return to my studies at the age of 32 years old. Really interested in International Relations, I went to a School for High International Studies in Paris (FRANCE) and got a diploma for  “International Relations”.

A year later, I joined the courses for a Master degree in “Development Project Management in Africa “ in 2006 at the University Paris – XI (FRANCE) and worked particularly for rural women with the United Nations Development Program.

In 2013, I attended the courses, at the World Maritime University in Malmö (SWEDEN), for a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs specialized in  “Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration”.

As the “ Deputy Director of Maritime Safety and Marine Pollution Prevention” in the Senegalese Maritime Administration, named, National Agency for Maritime Affairs (ANAM) in DAKAR,  my daily job is linked to the vessels’ administration under the aspects of Flag, Port and Coastal States obligations and responsibilities with a certain focus on Safety, Security and Marine Pollution Prevention features.

Also, participating in the INTERPOL Fisheries Crime Working Group (FCWG) meetings, I have been elected in 2017 Vice-Chair of the INTERPOL FCWG. In this Executive Committee, we work to help the States delegates and INTERPOL Secretariat to identify and combat transnational crimes in the fisheries.

Noting the need expressed by the Women at the INTERPOL FCWG meeting in 2017, we decided to launch the Network “Law Enforcement Femmes, LEF” after inclusion of women working in several organizations. Thus, I am chairing the LEF Network since its commencement in 2018.

Currently, I am leading also  a Senegalese Network  called “SN DOLEL JIGEN : Empowering Women” aimed to fight gender inequalities,  poverty and to develop peace, blue and green economy with Women inclusive involvement.
