Deniece M. Aiken is an Attorney-at-Law, whose area of specialty is maritime law. She holds a
B.Sc. in International Relations and Political Science from the University of the West Indies, and a
Bachelor of Laws degree with honours from the University of London. She also holds a Master of
Science degree in Maritime Affairs, specializing in Maritime Law & Policy from the World Maritime
University (WMU) in Sweden, which she completed with Distinction and received the Pierre
Leonard Award for the Best Female Student; and recently completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in
Port Senior Management from the Galilee International Management Institute in Israel.

Deniece is the Founding President of the WMU Women’s Association, an association formed to
connect, educate and inspire women in the maritime industry, and to promote female maritime
professionals, and through this association she successfully piloted a number of initiatives: Two of
the most outstanding of which are, the establishment of the WMU Women’s Association annual
scholarship for one female student per year to attend the World Maritime University and a
scholarship for one female member of the association to attend and present at a maritime
conference annually, both through partnerships with the International Maritime Organization
(IMO). She is also a founding member of the Women in Maritime Association, Caribbean and has
served as Director, Corporate Affairs for the past 3 years.

Ms. Aiken was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Caribbean Maritime Institute, and served as
a Director for four (4) years, and also serves as Director on the boards of the American Caribbean
Maritime Foundation, the Jamaica Rowing Federation, the WMU Women’s Association Secretariat,
and Seavie Caribbean Limited. She is an International Ambassador for the University of London
International Programmes and a member of the International Maritime Lecturer’s Association, as well
as, the Jamaica Bar Association.

Deniece currently serves as Vice President, Legal & International Affairs; as well as, Executive
Director of the Maritime Training Centre for the Caribbean Maritime University.
