Dr. Romero has been a member of the Faculty of Law at the World Maritime University since 2011 and currently serves as the Head of the Maritime Law and Policy Specialization. She received her Law degree from the Andr\u00e9s Bello Catholic University in Venezuela and an LL.M. degree from Tulane University in the U.S. before earning a Ph.D. with honours (cum laude) from Leibniz Universit\u00e4t Hannover in Germany. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With firsthand professional experience both as a delegate at international forums representing her homeland and in the classroom, Dr. Romero brings a unique perspective to the Maritime Law and Policy Specialization. She lectures on International Organizations and Maritime Conventions, the Law of the Sea, and the Protection of the Marine Environment and oversees these courses. In addition, she organizes the annual Moot Court Competition, which focuses on current issues of the Law of the Sea, along with a field study trip to The Hague and Hamburg. She has also been invited to lecture at the IFLOS Summer Academy at ITLOS in Hamburg, Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Romero places great importance on cooperation activities with Latin America and the Caribbean and has already organized two regional conferences there: the \u201cMaritime and Port Sectors in the Americas: Challenges and Opportunities in Light of the SDGs\u201d; conference in Lima, Peru in 2017 and the \u201cSecond Regional Conference: Maritime Transport and Ocean Policies: Regional Perspectives for the Americas\u201d; in Veracruz, Mexico in 2019. Her latest book, \u201cThe Agenda 2030 and the Ibero-American Maritime Law\u201d, includes a collection of monographs written by Latin-American experts who reflect on the progress in their country of some of the 17 Objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, together with the developments and unification of maritime law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romero aporta una perspectiva \u00fanica a la Especializaci\u00f3n en Derecho y Pol\u00edtica Mar\u00edtima. Imparte conferencias sobre organizaciones internacionales y convenios mar\u00edtimos, el derecho del mar y la protecci\u00f3n del medio marino y supervisa estos cursos. Adem\u00e1s, organiza el concurso anual de tribunales simulados, que se centra en cuestiones actuales del Derecho del Mar, junto con un viaje de estudio a La Haya y Hamburgo. Tambi\u00e9n ha sido invitada a dar conferencias en la Academia de Verano IFLOS en TIDM en Hamburgo, Alemania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Dra. Romero otorga gran importancia a las actividades de cooperaci\u00f3n con Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe y ha organizado all\u00ed dos conferencias regionales: \u201cSector Mar\u00edtimo y Portuario en las Am\u00e9ricas: Desaf\u00edos y Oportunidades a la Luz de los ODS\u201d conferencia en Lima, Per\u00fa en 2017 y \u201cSegunda Conferencia Regional: Transporte Mar\u00edtimo y Pol\u00edticas Oce\u00e1nicas: Perspectivas Regionales para las Am\u00e9ricas\u201d; en Veracruz, M\u00e9xico en 2019.
